The SEJ’s 22nd Annual Conference will be in Lubbock this week, and Tigga, Marina and Kaitlin will be guest-starring in their ” From Stones to the Stars at Carlsbad Caverns” tour on the Thursday. Tigga will be a speaker for one of their “Network Lunches” on the Friday, for a table discussing bat conservation issues (although if they don’t change the current proposed title, I’ll back out!).

The lab, with superb help from Julie, Cibele & Liz from the Baker Lab, braved a wicked cold front the weekend before last to track down Tadarida brasiliensis at Clarity Tunnel. More details on that trip here!
3rd International Berlin Bat Meeting: Bats in the Anthropocene, 1-3 March 2013
This should be a great meeting, focusing on the response of bats to human activities in this age of the Anthropocene. Tigga will be giving a plenary on approaches that integrate research with public outreach and education, and there are great sessions on bats in disturbed habitats, bats and urbanization, bats and EIDs, bats and wind energy, and ecosystem services of bats
The call for abstracts and details of the program can be found here.

I had a delightful trip to Auburn University last week to give a seminar to their Biology Department. I was invited by my academic sister Wendy Hood who is a nutritional ecologist.
